A versão para Game Boy Advance é um jogo de puzzle com visão de cima para baixo. O jogador explora Hogwarts e deve assistir às aulas, que geralmente incluem um desafio de coletar um certo número de itens, como estrelas de desafio ou ingredientes de poção. Este jogo apresenta os monstros familiares dos outros jogos da série, como lesmas e gnomos. Ao se sair bem em aprender feitiços e completar missões, Harry pode ganhar Pontos de Casa extras para que a Grifinória possa vencer a Taça das Casas. No entanto, se ele se comportar mal, atacando outros alunos ou sendo pego vagando pelos corredores à noite, os pontos serão deduzidos.
The Game Boy Advance version is a top-down puzzle game. The player explores Hogwarts, and must attend classes which often include a challenge of collecting a certain number of items, such as challenge stars or potion ingredients. This game features the familiar monsters from the other games in the series, such as snails and gnomes. By performing admirably in learning spells and completing missions, Harry can gain extra House Points so that Gryffindor might win the House Cup. If he misbehaves by attacking other students or being caught wandering the halls at night, points will however be deducted.
